God of Justice - Psalm 109

Sunday, May 07, 2023

Justice is good and right and necessary. We all have a deep longing for justice inside of us. However, this is what creates a big problem in life; we all have ways in which we feel like we are sinned against yet many times no one has to pay for it. It seems like we are slighted and it doesn't feel like justice is served. How does our faith in God when others sin against us?

Psalm 109 tells us that justice is a good thing, and better yet, that the burden to seek vengeance on our own is no longer our burden to carry. God, because he loves us, will make all of the wrongs done to us, right. He will bring about justice in our lives.

"Do not remain silent, O God of my praise, for wicked and deceitful people have opened their mouths against me; they have spoken against me with lying tongues." (Psalm 109:1-2)

"But you, Sovereign Lord, help me for your name’s sake; out of the goodness of your love, deliver me." (Psalm 109:21)

"With my mouth I will greatly extol the Lord; in the great throng of worshipers I will praise him." (Psalm 109:30)
