Devotion & Prayer – Psalm 6:10

“All my enemies shall be ashamed and greatly troubled; they shall turn back and be put to shame in a moment.” Psalm 6:10

Devotion:

When difficulties arise in this life, we can easily wonder if God has abandoned us. Or at the very least, we may question whether our enemies have gained the upper hand. No matter how we view the world, everyone senses that there is something opposing us in this life.

So how do we reach the point where we can confidently declare that all our enemies will be defeated and that we will ultimately triumph? It happens when we are convinced that God is for us. Because if God is for us, who can be against us?

We take joy in knowing that Jesus came to overthrow every enemy. If we were left to ourselves, it’s true that we would be ashamed. But in Jesus Christ, it is our enemies who will be ashamed. With Jesus on our side, we can’t lose. And the best news of all is that because of God’s great mercy Jesus is on our side.

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, thank You for being on our side. We need You to fight our battles—we are lost without You.

Fill us with Your hope, so that we will not despair when life gets hard. Fill us with Your hope, so that we will join You in suffering. Fill us with Your hope, so that we will have the strength to press on in this dark world.

We know our enemies will be defeated—not because we are stronger, but because You are. Thank You! In Jesus’ name, we worship and pray. Amen.
