On Sunday evening at Palmetto Shores Church, we continued with our Sunday Seminars, discovering what the Bible teaches about sanctification. Our article on Sanctification reads, “Those who have been regenerated are also sanctified by God’s Word and Spirit dwelling in them. This sanctification is progressive through the supply of divine strength, which all saints seek to obtain, pressing after a heavenly life in cordial obedience to all of Christ’s commands.”
A few things stand out to me about this. First, the Holy Spirit gives us new life in Jesus Christ and then continues to lead us deeper into that life. Second, God’s Word and God’s power are both key to progress in the Christian life. And finally, our growth in Christ is the privilege of pressing after a heavenly life before we get to heaven. God is at work in us to make us like Jesus, and our call is to walk in step with the Spirit to join God in that work. What are we waiting for?
