Jesus Is Better (Pt. 1)

He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.” – Hebrews 1:3-4

Jesus is better!” If we open ourselves up to God, we won’t be able to look away.

Why Compare Jesus with Angels?

Hebrews chapter 1 compares Jesus to angels. So, let’s talk about angels. They’ve played pivotal roles in announcing significant events, including the birth and resurrection of Jesus. According to Hebrews1:14, angels are spiritual beings, lacking physical bodies like humans. They are God’s worshipers and ministers, divine servants who revere and serve Him. Most importantly, angels possess an unmistakable glory and authority, a presence that would leave us trembling in awe if revealed before us.

But why compare Jesus with angels? The author of Hebrews addresses a community that held angels in the highest esteem. To these believers, angels represented the pinnacle of glory, authority, and power. Therefore, if Jesus, God’s Son, surpasses the glory of angels, He surpasses everything. If Jesus outshines angels in splendor, He outshines everything.

In this series, we’ll delve into five specific areas in which Jesus is undeniably better than angels, making Him the ultimate focus of our faith. Stay with us through this series as we journey deeper into Hebrews chapter 1, discovering God’s perspective and why, according to His view, “Jesus is better.”
