Delivered From Death - Psalm 116
Like noted in the famous country song, "Live Like You Were Dying" by Tim McGraw, if we knew we were dying soon we would live life to the fullest, pursue our deepest passions and throw caution to the wind.
Psalm 116 elevates this idea in light of Jesus saving us from eternal death. It asks "How should we live if we have been promised immortality? What kind of life should we live if we have been delivered from death? What kind of life should we live if God has reached into hell and plucked us out with his saving power?".
It's a powerful thing to consider how we would live if we knew we were dying soon, but how much more impactful to know that we have been delivered from death?
"For you have delivered my soul from death,
my eyes from tears,
my feet from stumbling;
I will walk before the Lord
in the land of the living."
(Psalm 116:8-9)
