Longing For The Word, Psalm 119:33-56

To be desperate for something tells us that something inside of us is missing, there is a void inside of us that we are attempting to fill. It is human to be living our lives desiring something, to be living our lives longing after something. This is what shapes our lives & sets the course for much of how we live.

Psalm 119 teaches us that true life, real life, is actually only found in the Bible. It elicits longing and craving after the word of God. The psalmist shows us reason after reason that we should be going after the word. If we actually knew the true riches and treasure in the scriptures we would crave after it. We would become single minded in the pursuit of what God has spoken.

"Your word is a lamp to my feet
and a light to my path."
(Psalm 119:105 ESV)

"Open my eyes, that I may behold
wondrous things out of your law."
(Psalm 119:18 ESV)

"I have stored up your word in my heart,
that I might not sin against you."
(Psalm 119:11 ESV)
