The Risen Savior - Matthew 28:1-10
Death is terrifying, it hangs over our heads, every single one of us knows that we have to face it. But why is death so terrifying? Because we know we cannot avoid it. We cannot stop it & we cannot reverse it. While death has defeated all of those who have gone before us, we celebrate Jesus Christ because he has defeated death. Matthew 28:1-10 recounts the resurrection of Jesus and his victory over death itself.
"After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. ... The angel said to the women, 'Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said.'" (Matthew 28:1, 5-6)
"Suddenly Jesus met them. 'Greetings,' he said. They came to him, clasped his feet, and worshiped him." (Matthew 28:9)
