Merry Christmas!
Yesterday morning, our church gathered to collectively meditate on God’s love. Reflecting on 1 John 4:9-10, ‘In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins,’ we were reminded that the essence of Christmas lies in God sending His Son—a profound demonstration of love. Jesus Christ, love in the flesh, teaches us both about God’s love for us and how to love others. As 1 John 4:19 beautifully puts it, ‘We love because he first loved us.’
Later in the evening, we gathered again for a special service of worship and communion. Taking the Lord’s Supper became a sweet reminder of what Jesus has done for us. The symbolic elements of bread and cup allowed us to nourish our souls on Christ. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate Christmas.
The Lord Bless You
