Yesterday (12/3/23) marked an exciting day at Palmetto Shores Church as we launched a new Advent sermon series titled “In The Flesh,” which will delve into the book of First John.
In 1 John 1:3-4, we read, “…the life was made manifest, and we have seen it, and testify to it and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was made manifest to us—that which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.” It’s truly incredible to contemplate that Jesus Christ is LIFE in the flesh. The very source of life—God Himself—revealed Himself to us by becoming a human being. However, what struck me profoundly yesterday was the emphasis on “fellowship.” Jesus has reconciled God and man. He accomplished for us what we cannot do ourselves, allowing us to “…walk in the light, as he is in the light, [so] we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.” (1 John 1:7) God invites us to enjoy fellowship with Him—an unparalleled privilege in life.
We also gathered for lunch yesterday for our Newcomers Lunch. It’s always inspiring to hear new stories of God working in lives and encouraging to meet individuals with a desire to become members of the church. It’s easy to be consumed by a negative narrative about the state of our world today, but yesterday presented a vibrant picture of hope and joy in God.
The Lord Bless You
