Weekend Recap (2/18/24)

Yesterday at Palmetto Shores Church we continued our study of the book of Esther. We experienced both the warning and the comfort of judgment as we considered the demise of Haman. The story of Haman warns us because is shows us of our own need for God’s mercy. But it also comforts us because it shows us that God will settle every score.

One of the more striking things is to realize that just as Haman was hanged on a tree, Jesus Christ was hanged on a tree. Galatians 3:13 says, “Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, ‘Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree.'” Jesus entered into our humiliation in order to transform our experience of judgment. What we deserve is to experience the condemnation of judgment, but if we are found in Jesus Christ, then the warning of judgment drives us deeper into gratitude.
