Yesterday at Palmetto Shores Church, we considered the significance of unity in the body of Christ. Psalm 133:1 opens up saying, “Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!” It is pleasing to God, to us, and to the world around us when we have the same heart. Unity in our own power is impossible, but under the blood of the cross of Jesus Christ, unity becomes a reality. Jesus makes peace by His cross, and the Holy Spirit unites hearts to become one family in Christ. Through the Spirit, we can walk in the gentleness, humility, and patience that create an environment for unity. In Christ, we are one, so let’s be “eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace” (Ephesians 4:3).
